The Dreadnaughts show success in Districts

The end of the spring sports seasons is nearing, which means one thing: It’s playoff time. Everything that has happened in the regular season doesn’t matter because it’s all about who brings home the hardware. So bring out the lucky objects and get ready for the state title.

The Lacrosse team made a valiant run at the state title, beating SEC rival Tecumseh 17-10, then going on to lose in the semi final of regionals to Notre Dame Prep. 15-4. The Lacrosse team finished the season with a 17-2 record.

The baseball team started off the district tournament with a bye to the semi-final and, then beat Pinckney 6-0 to advance to the finals. In the finals, the Dreads got out the bats to win 9-4 over Ann Arbor Huron, earning the first district title since 2005.
The Lady Dreads soccer team easily breezed through the district tournament, beating Tecumseh 5-0 and Ypsilanti 8-0 to get to the championship. They then shut out Milan   4-0 to take home the trophy for the 3rd time in a row.
The softball team suffered a tough loss to Pinckney 9-6 in the first round of the district tournament. They had the bases loaded in the last inning but couldn’t get them in to keep their championship hopes alive. Pinckney went on to win the championship 9-1 over Ann Arbor Huron.

The Women’s Water Polo team took second in their district suffering a rough loss to Okemos 12-1 in the final game. They advanced to the regionals, where they lost to Okemos again 5-3, advancing to the State tournament, where they took 4th.
The men’s golf team survived their district and advanced to the regional tournament by placing in the top 4 of district 19.
